About the Church

How it all started.

NHBC is an off shoot of New Estate Baptist church, Surulere which started as a home fellowship group and later on grew to become a preaching station on January 7, 1996.

The church had its first worship service at the St. Finbars College, Yaba and thereafter proceeded to the home of Dcn. & Dr (Mrs.) Bolaji Phillips under the leadership of Dcn. Iyiola Ikumapayi. In April 1996, the worship centre moved to Kabma F. International Nursery and Primary School at 2, femi Adebule Street, Fola Agoro.

Due to the rapid growth and expansion of the church, there was a great need to move to a bigger and more conducive environment. On February 2, 2001 the foundation laying of the old church auditorium at 18, Femi Adebule Street was laid. To the glory of God the construction of the sanctuary took just fifty two (52) days to complete and the church held its first worship service on April 1, 2001.

Soon after the present location also became very small and there was a need to move again to a bigger accommodation. This became a burden on the leadership of the church but soon after the Lord intervened and led the church to its present and permanent site at 17/19 Femi Adebule Street under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Julius Omomola. The church however continues to worship at this present location to date.
